Company History

theBalm Cosmetics boasts a complete line of makeup, skin care, hair care and nail polish. With a "beauty in five minutes" philosophy, theBalm's multi-use, mega fabulous products have become its calling card, offering quick fixes and wondrous solutions for a wide range of beauty wants and needs. The company's wearable colors and fantastic formulas allow women to release their inner artist so they can look and feel fabulous.


In 2004, Marissa Shipman, founder of theBalm, realized there were a few simple products she needed to help her look and feel glam all the time and if she needed them, other women did too... Marissa decided to indulge her cosmetic curiosities; she got on Amazon where she bought 11 books on how to make makeup and started mixing in her kitchen. "I went makeup crazy. I incorporated the company, worked out a budget, hired a chemist and designed a website." She began integrating anti-aging ingredients, triple-milled pigments, fabulous scents...and theBalm was born. Fast forward eleven years, you can now find theBalm's Paraben and Cruelty-Free products worldwide.

Licensed Estheticians or Cosmetologists and Makeup Artists

theBalm is hiring Rockstar Makeup/Brow Artists for our flagship store, which opened in December 2013 in San Francisco, CA. Awesome sales experience required. You will need to develop a clientele from scratch (it's our first store!), so your pulling skills and client retention need to be strong. Candidates must be highly accountable. Bilingual a plus. Huge potential for growth and promotion within. Part Time and Full Time Positions available.

Internship

theBalm Cosmetics is seeking an intern for our rapidly growing business. This is an amazing opportunity to enter into the world of beauty. We are a well-known cosmetics company with a customer base of high-end boutiques, spas and retailers across the globe.


The Intern will primarily work with theBalm team where you will have the opportunity to see and learn about all aspects of a cosmetics company. This is an excellent opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a great company. We are highly motivated but have fun too.


Tasks included but not limited to:


  • Assist with administrative duties
  • Merchandise shipping
  • Track and compile data
  • Provide admin support
  • Send faxes and mailings
  • Assist our design department with multiple projects

We are looking for someone with the ability to work independently and be a self starter. Detail-oriented with ability to complete tasks from start to finish. Genuine passion for cosmetics and interest in the industry!! Must have own transportation; we have offices in San Francisco and Alameda. Extremely proficient with computers - Microsoft Office programs (Adobe Premiere a plus). What is your return policy?

We are happy to return any unused products purchased from theBalm.com for a full refund. Any gently used products from our webstore can be exchanged for credit to theBalm.com. For assistance with returns and exchanges, please email your request to info@theBalm.com. Be sure to include your order number. All returns and exchanges require proof of purchase from theBalm.com.

How long will it take to get my order?

We strive to process both domestic and international orders within two business days.* Shipping times vary based on your selected shipping method and location. Domestic orders typically arrive within 3-5 business days after leaving our warehouse. UPS 2nd Day Air orders must be placed before 4pm PST to ship that same day and arrive within two days. *Please keep in mind that processing times differ during sales and special promotions.

Do you ship internationally and to military bases?

Yes! We ship internationally via UPS Mail Innovations and USPS. International shipping is a $25 fee, or free for orders over $150.* This price does not include possible customs fees or taxes, which vary by shipping destination. *Please keep in mind that these rates do not apply during sales and special promotions.

How long has theBalm been in business?

Marissa Shipman began mixing makeup in her kitchen in 2002, but theBalm wasn't incorporated until 2004.

Can you help match the colors to individual skintone?

Feel free to send us a current photo and/or a celebrity with a similar complexion and we will help you find the perfect match.

How can I change or cancel my order?

If your order has not been processed, we’ll do our best to make changes or cancellations. If your order has been processed, you are more than welcome to exchange or return upon receipt. For order changes and cancellations, please email your request to info@theBalm.com and be sure to include your order number.
