Really pleased with the application and finish of this lip cream/stain - I only wish I had been able to buy the other color I liked, but it was out of stock sadly. Definitely planning on getting more of the colors once they're in stock though! :)
I'm an "older woman" and don't want to look ridiculous. The challenge has always been to find a lip gloss that is light yet long-lasting. This fits the bill. I originally got sample from a make-up subscription service, and now I'm hooked!
I'm keen on lipstains, and couldn't wait to try The Balm's entry in the glossy lip stain category.
I chose the shade "Ciao!" which is a bright pink/fuchsia.
This stain is easy to apply with the doe-foot applicator and, true to its name, feels slightly emollient and weightless on the lips. It will transfer a bit when first applied; I recommend allowing it to "dry down" for about 10 minutes before you eat, drink, or don a mask.
Once set, it wears admirably. I find that it can begin to feel a tiny bit dryish after a couple of hours' wear, but a bit of [non-oily] lip balm on top remedies that feel while leaving the stain in place.
A full eight hours after I applied Ciao for the first time, I was complimented on my "pretty lipstick."
I reluctantly deducted one rating point because of the price and the fact that Ciao tends to bleed a bit into the skin adjacent to my 57-year-old upper lip.
Other than that, it's pretty close to perfect.
Please, The Balm, stay cruelty-free, and release more shades in this stain - a true red would be great.
I got the shade Hola which is a pink with a tinge of coral and is good for summer. I also own Konnichiwa which is a peachy pink shade that I also love. This line is fabulous and it leaves a very slight stain - doesn’t cling to dead skin cells on your lips the way other lips stains can.
